Hundreds of plaintiffs have come forward with claims against the makers of Yaz, Yasmin, and Ocella for allegedly causing bloods cots and other medical complications over the last five years. The birth-control drugs have been tied to causing arterial blood clots, leading to both stroke and heart attacks. Bayer, makers of Yaz and Yasmin, and Barr Laboratories and Teva Pharmaceuticals, makers of Ocella, have all agreed to a settlement program that will reach nearly $56.9 million. This program will be used to settle claims that are pending in California, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
