Amputations

Losing a limb is one of the most traumatic experiences a person can endure. It requires extensive hospital stays, physical therapy, use of prosthetic limbs and/or wheelchairs, and it causes much emotional stress and physical pain.

Limbs can be lost due to negligence in car accidents, truck accidents or due to a variety of negligent causes.

Limbs may be lost because of the negligence of a healthcare provider. When a doctor fails to diagnose a vascular injury or blood clot at the knee, for example, circulation is compromised to the lower limb. Our office has successfully litigated and resolved amputations including single amputees and quadruple amputees.

At times there are unfortunate circumstances of medical negligence leading to amputation. Suits as a consequence of amputation arise out substandard care due to failure to properly treat shock, leading to disseminated clotting and amputation; failure to treat clotting or failure to remove whatever is blocking blood flow or a host of other issues that if not properly and timely addressed lead to amputation.

Prosthetic limbs can cost tens of thousands of dollars, and amputees potentially face a lifetime of rehabilitation and physical therapy. Furthermore, amputations often prevent patients from returning to their previous job, especially if it required heavy lifting or extensive physical exertion. If you or someone close to you has lost one or more limbs because of an accident or poor medical care, contact the Righthand Law Office. Our office has successfully resolved many amputee cases assisting those clients with their losses.
